ABOUT LIFEKAL

Q. What is LifeKal?

A: LifeKal is a personalised meal prep company.  We deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks daily to your door.  All meals are individually prepared based on your personal chosen number of calories and macro split.

Q. What is the price?

A: The price will be determined based on how many calories you require, you’re only charged for what you consume.  We charge €0.01 per calorie.  So, for example if you require 1200 calories per day you will be charged €0.01 x 1200 = €12 per day. 

Q. How do I order?

A: It’s pretty simple to order – We have a visual step by step guide on our home page but here’s an overview:

  1. Create an account
  2. Decide which meal plan you want (Standard, Veg, Vegan, etc), click ‘ORDER NOW’.
  3. You then have the option to select which days you want to receive meals – either the whole week or just particular days in the week, select the required days and click ‘ADD TO CART’ – (Tip: You need to add each day individually to the cart).
  4. Once you’ve selected all your days click “VIEW CART’
  5. This is where you can personalise your requirements – you can enter the number of calories you require each day, the macro split you require and how many meals you want each day. 
  6. You also have the chance to subscribe to our meal plans and create a reoccurring order each 1,2,3 or 4 weeks. Based on whether you want a one-time purchase only or a subscription; you have the option to select ‘One time purchase’ or ‘Subscribe’, then click ‘CHECK OUT’ 
  7. Review your order details and click ‘CONTINUE’
  8. Enter your payment details & confirm your delivery address then click ‘Place my order’
  9. Your order is complete. 
  10. You need to send proof of payment to us at info@lifekal.com within 12 hours to ensure your order is confirmed and processed.
  11. As we require access to your front door to deliver your meals securely, a member of our delivery team will contact you personally to confirm details of your delivery address plus access to any codes or keys. 

Q. How soon can I start?

A: If you submit your order by the Wednesday 10pm of any week, your meals will be delivered to you the following week from Sunday onwards. If you submit your order after Wednesday 10pm of any week you will only receive your food the week after.  

Q. What are the payment options?

A: We only accept bank transfers.  Once you have made the payment we ask you to provide us proof of payment so we can confirm and process your order.

Q. How do I calculate my calories and macros?

A: There are many online calorie and macro calculators you can use to figure this out.  Or you if you work with a personal trainer or nutritionist they can help calculate this for you.  We have a link to an online calculator you can use on our home page under the tab "Calorie & Macro Calculator'

 

DELIVERY

Q. Where does LifeKal deliver?

A: At the moment we cover various areas in Lisbon but we are continuously adding more locations.  You can check if we deliver to your area by entering your zip code / postal code on the order page.

Q. What is the minimum amount of meals that I have to order for delivery?

A: Our minimum order is 1200 calories per day.  Although we have no minimum requirement on the number of meals per day, we suggest you take a look at our guidelines on this so that you receive balanced portions of your meals.  Keep scrolling down to the MEAL INFO section to find the details on this. 

Q. Can a delivery address be changed after an order is placed?

A: If you want to change your address, you need to notify us 24-hours prior to the actual delivery date for the change to take effect.  Send us an email on info@lifekal.com or contact us on the live chat. 

Q. What are the delivery charges?

A: There are no delivery fees.

  

MEAL INFO

Q. Do you accommodate food intolerances or allergies?

A: We understand that everyone is different and people have various likes and dislikes – our goal is to offer a level of flexibility to cater to your needs, therefore if you have any particular food dislikes or restrictions, you can list up to 3 ingredients and we will ensure these are not included as part of your meals.  

Q. Do you cater for Vegetarian or Vegan requirements?

A: We have Vegetarian and Vegan plans coming soon!  You can subscribe for the these plans on our home page and be notified when we go live.

Q. How many meals per day should I order?

A: A standard full day of meals with us would include 5 meals: Breakfast, Morning snack, Lunch, Afternoon snack & Dinner. 

However we understand that not everyone wants all of these meals, you may have breakfast plans or a dinner date!  So you have the option to select how many meals per day you wish to receive.  However, to ensure you receive well portioned meals we highly suggest to follow the below guidelines:

1200 - 1400 calories per day – 4 meals

1401 – 2000 calories per day – 5 meals 

2001 + calories per day – 5 meals + Booster

Q. What is a booster?

A: A booster is a high protein snack - it works well as part of a high protein / high calorie plan to ensure you are hitting your protein target per day and to ensure your calories are evenly portioned throughout your meals.

Q. Can I edit an order once placed?

A: If you need to make a change to your order you need to contact us before Wednesday 6pm with your request.  Email us at info@lifekal.com or contact us via the live chat.

Q. How is the food delivered?

A: We deliver the food in temperature controlled cooler bags to the delivery address you have mentioned in your order.  All LifeKal deliveries are made according to the rules and regulations set by the local Health & Safety authorities. 

Q. Do I need to be at the delivery address in person to receive my order?

A: No you don't but we do recommend the meals are transferred from the cooler bag to the refrigerator within 2 hours of delivery.  

Q. Do you use any preservatives?

A: No, we do not use any preservatives in our meals. All of our food is cooked using fresh ingredients. 

Q. Is the food frozen?

A: No our food is not frozen, all meals are made fresh the day of delivery.

Q. Where can I find nutritional information for my meals?

A: Each of your meal containers has a QR code on the lid – you can scan these to find out all of your personal nutritional details.  

Q. Is the nutritional information accurate?

A: Yes, we use a uniquely developed platform to calculate your personal calorie and macro requirements.  We also use standardised nutritional databases to calculate all our recipes. 

Q. How do I re-heat the meals?

A: Our containers are microwave safe so you can safely re-heat your meals for around 2 to 3 minutes in the microwave.  Each meal comes with specific instructions which you can find when you scan the QR Code. 

Q. Who prepares our food?

A: All our meals are made by trained professional chefs.  

Q. What is the shelf life of each meal?

A: Meals should be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 24 hours of delivery   However they do have a shelf life of up to 72 hours if properly stored in the refrigerator at 5 C.

Q. Can I freeze the meal’s once received?

A: The meals are best consumed when fresh but you can freeze them for up to 30 days.

 

 SUBSCRIPTION & BILLING

Q. How does the subscription work?

A:If you want to receive the meals regularly without the hassle of placing an order every week, you can subscribe to a plan so that your order re-occurs every 1,2,3 or 4 weeks. 

Q. How do I manage my subscription?

A: You can manage your subscription in your account.  You can access your account by clicking on the person icon located at the top right corner of the page.  Once you are in your account, you can view your order history and account details. On the right hand side of the page under ACCOUNT DETAILS click on 'Manage Subscription'.  Here you can Pause your subscription, change the date of your next scheduled delivery, cancel a particular week order or cancel your subscription. 

Q. When do I get billed?

A: If you place a one time only purchase, you will be charged at the time of placing the order.  If you opt for a reoccurring subscription you will be charged on a Wednesday according to your reoccurring order frequency (every 1,2,3 or 4 weeks) 

Q. What is the cancellation & refund policy?

A: You can cancel your subscription at any time using the 'Manage Subscription' link found under 'My Account' page.  The cut off date for cancelling a subscription or order is Wednesday 10pm ahead of the week you have purchased for.  If you wish to cancel an order after Wednesday you need to contact us directly at info@lifekal.com or the live chat.  Cancellation or refunds are handled on a case by case basis and only under extenuating circumstances.

A: My account is where you can review all of your details such as personal calories, macro split, food preferences and delivery address.  You can also manage your subscription preferences on this page by clicking on the 'Manage Subscription' link.
